Hi!
I'm Brianna!
Musically, my journey started early. Indeed, my dad used to say, only half jokingly, that I was the only preschooler he has ever known that knew all the lyrics to “Goodnight Saigon.” I started playing the piano when I was five, and so I’m lucky enough to say I can’t remember a time that I couldn’t read music. At nine, I jumped at the chance to learn a band instrument, choosing the trumpet because “not enough girls play the trumpet.” At 12, I heard a song that changed my life; it was simple and beautifully written, and I thought, “I’d like to write music like that one day.”
In 2001, I moved to England to study composition and musical direction -- continuing with trumpet and piano, as well -- at the ultra-cool Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with First Class Honours in 2005. After moving back to Hawaii, I began working in concert production during what turned out to be the final four years of the Honolulu Symphony. I began teaching piano lessons in 2011 in Kaneohe, Hawaii. I also continue to work as the Music Librarian for the Hawaii Pops Orchestra in Honolulu. And I still play trumpet for fun with small community bands.
With our relocation to Colorado in the summer of 2015, I look forward to meeting a new group of fun, engaged budding musicians here in Highlands Ranch!
